Jeff Beier

Recognized for his use of thick textures and multiple oil glazes, Jeffrey Beier approaches varying subjects for his work. His paintings can be found in public galleries, corporate and private collections around the world. In 2003, he presented the solo exhibit “The Dead Still Sing,” celebrating blues artists from the Mississippi Delta. 2004 saw Jeff’s contribution to acclaimed international touring exhibit, “32 Inch Canvas.” In April that same year he debuted “Spilling Across the Edges,” a trans-continental collaboration with Australian artist Tanya Loviz presented in Calgary. In October 2004 Jeff exhibited solo “Dream in Colour, Live in Texture.” 2005 began with a third collaboration in Australia with Ms. Loviz for the Artist’s Gallery of Katoomba, NSW. In July the solo exhibit “Seeing Red” quickly sold out to collectors. September saw the opening of “Reverse Polarity” and in October “Reflection” with Mike Gill.

Currently, Jeff is busy painting for upcoming local solo and group exhibits, with shows planned for Ottawa, Toronto and again in Australia. Jeff lives and works in Calgary but regards Yellowknife as “home".

All art begins for me with music. In song, as in life, there are infinite possibilities and I try to paint with that simple mantra. A moment on the canvas where the conscious and ethereal meet. Colour exists in a continuing myriad, beyond the parameters of our expectations. Texture has freedom to drip beyond borders. Light can bend of its own volition. All these things are possible if we decide they are. It is my hope that these paintings resonate with levity and joy in the reality you choose to create for yourself. Colour outside of the lines!
